Unipart Rail Supports Scottish IRSE Technical Panel Debate

Unipart Rail proudly participated in the Scottish Section IRSE Technical Lecture on November 14th, embracing a fresh panel Q&A format inspired by IRSE President Jane Power’s theme, “Power to the People.” This year’s focus on “Unsung Heroes” celebrated the vital contributions of those behind the scenes who ensure the safety and operation of our railways and signalling systems.

The panel, chaired by Frazer Howie (Siemens), included industry experts representing maintainers, operators, technology suppliers, and train drivers. Richard Flanagan, Unipart Rail’s Sales Director, highlighted the dedication of the company’s engineers who repair and overhaul vital signalling products. He emphasised the importance of transferring their vast experience to future generations and challenged the industry to enhance collaboration, skills development, and communication.

Discussions covered improving end-user consultation, addressing Beyond Economical Repair (BER) decisions, and aligning standards with operational needs. The event also underscored the importance of staff training, skills retention, and delivering industry excellence.

Unipart Rail hosted 10 guests from leading rail organisations and maximised the opportunity to network with industry colleagues. The company looks forward to continuing its active role in IRSE events, driving innovation, and celebrating the contributions of the industry’s unsung heroes.
